OSAT Blog Hop | Sixteen Candles

Hello friends and welcome to another One Stamp At A Time Blog Hop! If this is your first time visiting my blog - thank you! If you've been here before, then welcome back!

This months theme is all about birthdays and I am so excited to share today's projects with you. I used a couple of pretty stamp sets and did a bit of ink blending, which you will see in the photos below. You will find a link to of all the products used at the end of this blog post.

For the first project, I created this pretty birthday card using the Happy Birthday To You Sale-A-Bration Stamp Set. This set is so pretty! You can earn this set for free when you spend $60 in my online Stampin' Up! Shop. It coordinates with the Birthday Dies, which allows you to cut out the beautiful images with your Die Cut Machine.

Here are the card measurements and some further details on the card:

  • Whisper White Card Base: 8.5" x 5.5", scored at 4-1/4".

  • Basic Black Cardstock: 3.5" x 4-3/4"

  • White White Cardstock Layer: 3-1/4" x 4.5"

  • The background stamp is Very Versailles

  • The flowers are coloured using the Lovely Lipstick and Flirty Flamingo Stampin' Bends.

  • The leaves are coloured with Granny Apple Green Stampin' Blends.

  • For the gold colour detail on the cake, I used my Unibal Gold Gel Pen. I scribbled some gold ink on my grid paper and picked up the colour with my Blender Pen to add to the stamped lines on the cake.

  • I used the same Unibal Gold Gel Pen to colour in the cake stand and floral centres.

  • I then used the swirly circle die from the Painted Label Dies and created an added background accept using Basic Black Cardstock layered with Whisper White Solid Baker's Twine.

  • The sentiment is heat embossed using Gold Embossing Powder and then I added a couple of gold sequins to finish off the card.

For the coordinating gift I made a beautiful gift box that matched the card perfectly, thanks to a tutorial from Sam Hammond Donald. For this I used the gorgeous Breathtaking Bouquet Stamp Set. This background stamp set is amazing, and I especially like to heat emboss the image like I did with the gift box below.

Here are some further details on the gift box:

  • I stamped the image with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with White Stampin' Emboss Powder.

  • I did some ink blending (inspired by a recent project I saw by fellow OSAT Blog Hop member Martin Stone), using Blushing Bride and Lovely Lipstick Inks. This is my first time ink blending and it was so fun (and way less intimidating than I thought it would be!).

  • The sentiment is from the same Happy Birthday To You Sale-A-Bration Stamp Set and is also embossing with Gold Emboss Powder.

  • I finished off the box with the Whisper White Solid Baker's Twine and a few gold sequins to finish of the box.
