The Spot #100 | Good Morning Magnolia Card

Well, hello there! Welcome to the Sweet Paper Studios Blog! Today I have something new to share, in more ways than one! First, I'd like to welcome you to the new The Spot Creative Challenge! We are a team of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from around the world that are teaming up to provide you with fun and weekly challenges. We'll have a different theme/challenge each week and invite you to play along each week for a chance to be featured as a winner on our blog, plus you get the bragging rights!

Today marks our very first challenge, which is all about getting to know us as designers. It's a complete designers choice so we can get to know you as well!

For my card today I am using the Good Morning Magnolia Bundle. I've done a few projects with this one before but it's been a while, and since I wanted to create something a bit more textured to showcase my evolving design style, I thought it was a great choice.

I did some more ink blending on the Golden Honey Designer Series Paper, and then added some Gold Embossing Powder to the Magnolia stamped image. Full details are below.

Tips, Tricks, and Details:

  • Basic Black Card Base: 8.5" x 5.5", scored at 4-14"

  • Golden Honey Designer Series Paper: 5-1/4" x 4"

  • Ink Blending using Blushing Bride Ink and Lovely Lipstick Ink. Watch my Ink Blending Video Tutorial HERE (don't forget to subscribe, please!).

  • To get a sense of where I wanted to start blending out my ink, I marked the centre of my paper, and then blended out, using my Magnolia cut out as a guide to determine how far our I needed to blend for the colour to pop out around the side of the image. See photo below.

  • I stamped the Magnolia using Momento Ink and then stamped the image again using my Versamark Ink, but did not fully cover the stamp with Versamark as I wanted to leave some edges just black.

  • I heat embossed using Gold Embossing Powder and then coloured the image with the Lovely Lipstick Blends Combo Pack, Colour Lifter Blend, and the Old Olive Blends Combo Pack.

  • I used a white gel pen to then add a bit more definition onto the flower.

  • I popped the Magnolia on the card using Stampin' Dimensionals and heat embossed the sentiment with White Embossing Powder.

  • The card is finished with some Solid Baker's Twine and Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels.
